While in High School in the 1970's Larry Jensen decided to open a roadside stand to sell local strawberries. The stand was located along Highway 20 in Burlington,Washington and became a popular stop for locals and visitors making their way to Anacortes and the San Juan Islands. He expanded the stand to include many more produce items and seafood at what became Larry's Gardens. Soon he had local growers coming to him to help sell their produce. Having more supplies than his market could sell, he formed a sales company in 1980 called Valley Pride Sales to market produce to wholesalers and retailers.
Valley Pride Sales has grown to become one of the largest handlers of fresh produce in Western Washington. In addition to handling sales for local family farms it also has its own growing, packing, and cooling operations. The experienced sales staff handles nearly 3000 acres of produce from the Skagit Valley including potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers, raspberries, and blackberries.
